some interesting moments in an utterly mundane job

yes yes...i'm back to talk more about my utterly mundane job... =( i'm soooo bored that i daydream while working lo...its like i'm on auto-pilot...click...move mouse...click submit...move mouse...click..and so on...sometimes i dun even know what i'm marking...but oh wells...there have been answers to questions that have entertained me for that few seconds before i go on to the next student response...

Qn No. 1

Type of wave | What it does |

or something like that...i din get to see the whole qn..

and therefore...the answer is either "ultraviolet rays" or "UV rays"...and you'll be amazed at how many ways you can write that wrong...here are some of them..

some of them put "I don't know"...

Qn 2

The question asks, "Which halogen is used to purify water?"

The answer is Chlorine or Iodine....here are some of the answers the UK students gave...

And some are just totally out...

"Sodium"
"Fluorine"
"Astatine"
"Francium"

Qn 3

The question asks the students to name the 3D shape that is drawn...

The answer is Cone....

Qn 4

This question asks the students to label which part makes urine....and it mentions specifically that the diagram drawn shows a FEMALE body...

They are supposed to draw a labelling line touching the kidney and then label it with "Kidney"...

1st of all, I'll give u a sample of their wonderful spellings...

And that's not all...

Some students labelled the uterus as the part that makes urine....hmmm...so before they were born they were constantly showered with pee....yuck....

some students labelled the anus....oh come on....15/16 years of your life gone and you don't know which hole your pee comes out from?

some students even labelled penis....its a FEMALE body....READ THE QUESTION!!!!

some students labelled the intestines as "instines"...some even call it the bladder...and some of them write "bladder (hidden behind the intestines)"...

some students labelled the trachea as "urea"..

some students labelled the lungs as the kidney...

some students labelled the kidney as the lungs....

some students completed the picture by drawing in hair, facial features...one even had his "human" breathing fire... =)

some students labelled the liver..even though its already labelled for them...

some students labelled the pancreas as the bladder....

some students cant even spell pancreas properly...they spelt it as "pancrease"...

some labelled the large intestines as the small intestines/pancreas...

AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON... =)

Question goes "Name a greenhouse gas."

Answer is "Carbon dioxide"

Click!

After one whole day of clicking at the computer marking exam papers, amy, kerf, jas, trs and myself went to watch "Click!"..yea...we're workaholics........juz kiddin..haha..

The movie made me think...and laugh...and then think again...and feel sad and then laugh and then think some more...haha..u can say its driving me crazy... :-p

Life whizzes past so quickly....ever took the time to take a look at what's around you? How many moments did u miss out on? What could have been better?

Have u really showed care for those whom you really love?

Have u taken for granted what you cldnt have lived without?

Did u appreciate what others have done for u?

I daydream alot....when i have nothing to do...or when i'm doing something brainless...like marking exam papers....and i find myself answering such questions...it gives me a direction in life and helps me make better decisions in the future when similar circumstances arise...it makes me laugh at myself when i see a moment in which i was stupid...

I'm quiet most of the time.....so quiet that my friends think they're standing next to a wall....haha..but alot of things go through my mind as i observe things around me...hear what ppl say...its juz tt i dun say it...maybe its coz it doesnt fit into the conversation that tt pt of time..maybe its coz it doesnt really matter at all whether i say it or not...

beautiful moments are meant to be captured in the mind and slowly appreciated...a couple sharing their love for one another..a child playing happily...the beautiful sunrises and sunsets...scenery atop a mountain...

and someone loved these moments so much.....he invented the camera...

someone ever asked me...why do u feel awkward if u are sitting next to a friend and there's a silence between the two of u? i juz passed it off as something weird about me....there's a story behind it actually...

Ever sat next your best friend and yet you feel so distant from him/her? I have...

We were inseparable in our secondary school days...we knew each other so well that we could tell each other's thoughts...and tell what the next step the other would take in any hypothetical situation...In our performances, we could effortlessly coordinate with each other...and there was no need for much explanation/practice...we could juz do it...and do it perfectly the first time we try it...that was the kind of friendship i once had with him..

then he fell in love...and he spent alot of time with his girlfriend...i thought it would be ok...we're still gonna be gd friends...but then slowly i realised..we had less things to say to each other...we were hanging out with each other much lesser than before....and sitting next to him...i somehow felt that there was a great wall of china placed between us with sentries placed at every 20 metres on high alert....that hurt me alot...

We used to be able to talk about anything under the sun endlessly....and now...our conversations never last more than a few sentences...and during those conversations...it was obvious that i was desperately trying to make it seem as if it was like before...

That friendship slowly deteriorated....and i have also come to realise the fact that I've lost the closest friend I had in my life...

I know things change..but when a blade slashes across your skin, you still feel the pain and blood still flows...and as it heals, a scar forms and it'll remain there for quite some time...

well...that's life...each one of us will have scars etched into us....n its how u deal with it that makes or breaks you...

this movie really struck my deepest heart strings...what really matters in life is the relationship you have with people...its impossible to please everyone...but dun keep disappointing the same person all the time..

and at the same time..it evoked alot of my thoughts about the events that have happened in my life so far...and alot of i-should-haves and what-ifs came up...and things like "cherish every moment", "appreciation" came into my mind as well....alot of the time after the movie was spent clearing my mind of thoughts...but they juz cldnt be suppressed....

I realise how randomly and quickly the topics on this blog entry are changing...but that is juz how my thoughts are like right now...i'm sorry if i irritated anyone in any way...

Chewie

Went to terence's house to watch the England vs Sweden match today...but I spent most of the time playing with Chewie...

Chewie damn poor thing...got dumped by its previous owner (terence's housemate, she moved out already..)..and now terence has no choice but to sell it because he has no time for Chewie...he's such a cute dog... =( A golden retriever puppy...so fun to play with...i'm gonna miss him when he's gone..

he's very hyperactive...and i cldnt take any proper photos of him with him sitting still...so i played with it till it was tired...and tt explains why most of the photos of him show him sleeping..but even when Chewie's sleeping he's so adorable... =)

Love

went to a friend's house to watch Love Actually...the one which stars Hugh Grant etc etc...too many ppl in it already..

its such a sweet and nicely written story... but it also got me thinking...it never ever happens in reality...usu we do not get together with our dream guy/girl...unless ur really lucky..

things are more complicated than what is shown in the movie...

maybe ur dream guy/girl doesnt think that u are the one...maybe there are other things in life that interrupt it...maybe ur dream guy/girl has different priorities change as we go along in life..maybe ur dream guy/girl is already attached...

all of us spend sooo much time thinking whether tt dream guy/girl feels the same way too..and yet the simplest thing...juz opening ur mouth to ask...becomes the hardest thing to do...and we resort to other ways of finding out...reading into their actions, asking help from friends, getting to know his/her friends and try to pry it out of them..etc etc...

and maybe its due to the fear of rejection...maybe its due to our pride...maybe its due to the fear of the consequences...especially for someone who treasures his/her friendships alot...

love is such a vexing thing in our lives...and yet at the same time all of us are willing to go through it...and we are happy while going through it....if it were anything else we'd be labelled as sadists/masochists...gaining pleasure from such a agonizing activity...

then again...maybe its due to all that agony that we realise how important it is in our lives and makes us treasure it even more...

Work Work...

I've just started working... =) earning money for my own use here..haha..pays $18.71/hr..and what do I do???

I mark GCE and GCSE exam papers from UK...using a computer based system....

ITS DAMN TIRING!!!!~~~~!!!!~!~!~!

imagine staring at the computer screen for hours and hours...my fingers clicking the mouse button non-stop....every single day...for 8 hours..from 9am - 5pm....Soooo bored...lucky I got my PDA which can play MP3s...haha...and makes it slightly better...

but then the job is not without its amusing moments....I found out that the people from UK SUCK AT MATHS!!!!

take this qn for example...

Given that 257 x 34 = 8738, what is 873.8 / 2.57?

and soooo many didnt get the answer right....i even counted....out of 3000+ I marked...only around 30 got the answer...

Exams are over!!!! =D

Yes...after preparing for it long and hard...its finally all over...and now i can blog again!! 13wks passed so quickly...But oh well...who cares? LIVE FOR THE MOMENT!!! YEAAAA....haha

I've never played so hard before in my life....after exams, went out to Melbourne city to have a buffet dinner at Crown hotel...After that, KTV session till 3.30am in the morning...sang all the familiar chinese pop songs...john, kel and josh entertained us with oldies and hokkien songs...sooo fun...haha...Then fell asleep at McDonalds in Crown hotel until we got chased away by the security...played at the arcade till abt 8+am..then we went to Queen Victoria Market where xy, jeff and ethan bought stuff back for their family and friends..the Greek yoghurt there ROX!!! Good stuff man...So smooth and creamy...its the best i've ever had...haha...After that we caught Xmen 3 at Village cinema in Crown...(in fact, we're getting sick of walking that route leading to Crown hotel from the city already!!!)

Then finally, we were just too tired to continue the rest of our plan (which is to go to Chadstone to do more shopping and eat at Pancake Parlour before 7pm so that we can catch the $9.90 special..haha)...and we went back to the halls to sleep...after that it was pizza for dinner..and the ethan, jeff and jasmine came over to my rm to watch "How I Met Your Mother.." till arnd midnight...and all celebrations came to an end...most fun i've ever had in weeks..haha...now for the photos of those good times... ;)
